Inspiring Cyclists we met on the road

2012

http://www.beyondthegreatdivide.org

We met Aaron in Northern Guatemala where we stayed at the warmshowers.org place Buenas Cosas - what a luck! He came to see us again at Lago de Atitlan a few weeks later and since then we are cycling together on our way South. A supernice guy with lots of cycling experience! And as we support World Bicycle Relief he does a very similar project with Wheels for life…

2011

In August 2011 we met Yi and Chuan from Taiwan in Mainz who started their cycle trip in Taiwan in 2009. We met them on a rainy Saturday afternoon going for a walk at the Rhine river bank where they were preparing food with a gasoline stove. Since we were dreaming of such a bike trip around the world for a very long time now, we directly got in touch with them. Both appeared so friendly that my dad just invited them home to stay the night in a dry place and we spent a very nice evening all together. Soon it was clear Yi and Chuan had to visit us in Düsseldorf as well - three days later they arrived.
Meeting these two open minded world bikers really pushed us forward to start our own plans…

While cycling Romania in June 2011 we have made our way up to the 2034m high Balea Lake in the Carpathian Mountains. When decending we met Johanne and Pedro from Cannada (Quebec). Both of them carried about 50 kg extra luggage on their bikes and they had just finished the whole Transfăgărășan road trough the Carpathian Mountains - respect!
They told us that they’ve just sold their house and car and planned an around the world cycling trip for about four years. It was great to see that one can do such an adventure even at the age of 60+.
